Greetings to our beloved Ballaro Dance community!

As we bid farewell to March and welcome April, Ballaro Dance is full steam ahead sailing through our 11th Season. We kicked off the year with a tour to the Western New York area: first visiting Nazareth University to teach and perform at the Movement & Dance Festival, then we were off to Buffalo, NY for a masterclass and performance. Hannah Dillenbeck and Marina Vianello joined me on the road, and we collaborated with many members of the local WNY dance community.

A few weeks later Hannah, Marina, Jen Silver, and Natalie Katz performed at the Aurora Dance Festival in Washington, DC, sharing excerpts of Spirito Riempito Vita and Amid the Wild. Both dances center the human experience and act as a visual symbol of compassion and connectivity: something we need now more than ever in our local and global communities. Our work was very well received; we’ve been invited to return to DC in June to lead our beloved Modern MOVES masterclasses.

March was also a time to celebrate the powerful women of Ballaro Dance: talented, thoughtful artists who make our community unique and impactful. Looking ahead at all that is to come this Season, we have budgeted over $10,000 to support Rehearsal Pay & Performance Stipends for our local events throughout NYC and while on tour (we already have Rochester, NY and Newtown, CT on the docket for this summer!) We are producing meaningful art and we need YOU to make it happen all year long.

I eagerly invite you to support the incredible women of Ballaro Dance with a contribution to Seeds of Support for Awe-Inspiring Art! This $5,000 campaign goal is ongoing throughout the month of April and will provide direct support for our 2025 Company of MOVERS:

Hannah Dillenbeck, Company MOVER & Rehearsal Assistant

Marina Vianello, Company MOVER

Jen Silver, Company MOVER

Natalie Katz, Company MOVER

Christina Tribo, Apprentice

Thank you for being instrumental to our growth as an organization since 2014. We appreciate the ‘seeds of support’ you’ll give to help us build community through collaborative, sensory-rich, multidisciplinary art making. We look forward to connecting on the road this Season: let’s SEE, MOVE, & SHARE together!
